Join Studio 1317 for First Friday on May 6 from 6 to 9 PM featuring sculptor Lynn Creighton.
HAITI THE SONGBIRD: IS A SYMBOL OF THE ESSENTIAL VITALITY OF THE Haitian people. She represents hope for recovery to a credible society in which children can thrive in their growth toward their own true nature.
“I began this piece in February, 2010 soon after I saw the bank worker emerge from the rubble on a stretcher SINGING. Her husband had come every day, certain she was alive, for the fourteen days it took to find her and dig her to safety. He drove her away in their SUV still singing. That women and this sculpture represent the Haitian spirit of connection to the good in life and to God. She is now in bronze.” Lynn Creighton
